I got my email from the Escape team, and I have been draw out of the lottery for the second year running. Cool!

Now need to make time to get back in the pool and dial in some training for that race. The swim needs to be strong to set up a good position for the bike. The bike needs to be powerful and consistant and then it needs to be backed up with a solid fast run.

I’ll really need to think about fueling strategy due to the pace of the race and the difficult nature of the bike and where you can take in fuel.

I just came across this new triathlon series, wonder if it would make a good warm up for Escape.
Date: Sunday 06/7/2009

There’s a new triathlon series in town, its sprint distance and its name is AnchorMan. In its inaugural year there are three qualifying races; San Francisco June 7th, Seattle August 9th and Portland August 30th. Here’s the beauty, each event has 150 FREE spots to the championship event in San Diego on October 25. Thats right, if you qualify,
you go to the championship race FOR FREE. “We wanted to create a series that rewarded the sprint distance triathlete. Throw in a spectacular shipboard start (every race start is a point-to-point swim starting from a ferry boat) and you have AnchorMan Triathlon” stated Affie Sklut head of marketing for Envisionact LLC, owner of the AnchorMan series. “We also felt it appropriate to hold our championship event in San Diego, specifically Fiesta Island in Mission Bay, the true birthplace of triathlon. It is AnchorMan’s belief that sprint distance racing has not received the respect it deserves in the triathlon community.

There is more out there than Ironman.” Sklut went on to say, “We feel that it takes a very special athlete, one possessing both speed and endurance to succeed at Anchorman.
Only in triathlon could an event that takes the winner 1 hour to complete be dubbed a sprint.”

Entries Available for Oceanside Event On-Line Starting Monday, April 27 at noon EST

Wow I’m still getting over it for this year and they are about to open registration for next year, wow! That’s planning ahead.

Registration will open for Ironman 70.3 California, which will take place on March 27, 2010, starting Monday, April 27 at 12 pm EST. The event, going into it’s 11th year, has quickly become one of the most popular and competitive Ironman 70.3 races in the world. The race offers 28 age group qualifying slots for the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, HI, and 50 qualifying spots to the 2010 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater, FL.
Ironman 70.3 California takes place in the City of Oceanside, the U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and the surrounding area. It features a sheltered swim in Oceanside harbor, followed by a challenging bike course through the Marine Corps Base that is considered one of the most scenic in Ironman racing. The beautiful run course follows the ocean and beach in Oceanside.

One of the fastest races to fill on the Ironman 70.3 circuit, athletes are encouraged to enter early.

No training, day off

February 2, 2009 70.3, race calander Comments

Week 12.
Day 1. Today is a day off, I get them once every 2 weeks. It seems like a luxury, but I’ll take it. I’m feeling fine after yesterdays 11 mile run straight after an hours weights session. Which is good and shows that I’m adapting to the demands of training.

I was looking ahead on the training plan and the weights are going to step up again soon so that will be interesting.

Wow week 12 that’s almost 3 months since I started training towards Oceanside, which is now about 55 days away – that’s less than 8 weeks until race day! Oh dear, but how exciting.
